Arab Song was directly inspired by the artist's travels

In 1927 Paul Klee talking about his admiration and inspiration taken from the locals which he consequently found through traveling. Quoted he stated "This is what I search for all the time: to awaken sounds which slumber inside of me, a small or large adventure in color".

From this statement in 1932 he continued to produce a large amount of travel artwork. One of these paintings is the Arab Song.

Using oil on a burlap canvas he created a blinding sun, a blazing desert, clothes worn with dust, tired and weary women, tribal plants and the most realistic view of North Africa in history.

In this particular mastery of art he has created a mixture of Egypt and Tunisia and he has bonded the cultures together through a unique use of color, shapes, patterns and lines.

Simple yet stunning his artwork has formed a spot in history and is an inspiration to all aspiring artists. Fans of his work claim that this piece is the most thought evoking and beautiful painting which he has created.

He is famous for his pronounced artwork which was influenced by children, travel, cubism and surrealism. He had a long fulfilling career as both an artist and as a teacher.

His artistic breakthrough consequently happened in 1914 after a trip to Tunisia. There he became inspired and began to create an abstract form of art which eventually made him a famous artist, known internationally.
