Shichiri beach in Sagami Province is a beautiful Japanese print from Hokusai.
Hokusai's life was nothing short of exciting and full of passion for his work. His woodblock work became very famous not only in Japan but all over the world. His print series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji is the most commonly known. Mount Fuji is of high significance to the residence of Japan. They say the view of a sunrise or sunset over and through the mountain is quite thrilling. So when he made the series they really connected with it and at this time he was 70 years old. He never stopped painting and couldn't even clean his house so he kept on moving when his house gets too dirty or disorganised.
The colours he used were very traditional Japanese inspired. His art displayed how human beings connect with nature in their day to day life. Hokusai mixed the traditional methods and western. His art was reprinted by famous and well-established artists such as Edgar Degas and Claude Monet. He drew an image on paper and uses the art as a guide to carving wood and later painting it. This made this work stand out among the other artists.
Hokusai's art was very coordinated and unique. He learnt how to colour, paint and shade. His Landscaping works were very well-known He always made the landscape look so expensive. He incorporated all this perspective into his work revolutionising Japanese art in general.
