Stunning portraits of famous historical figures have made Holbein prints popular choices for your home or office

The most famous of Holbein's work can be found in some of the most significant galleries and museums around the world, predominantly across Europe. This is an artist who continues to be promoted to young art followers and also fans of medieval history in general.

The likes of Henry VIII remain such famous figures that Holbein's work is frequently used to bring this period to life. Several of his wives and political connections are also frequently reproduced as fine art prints.

Alngside Holbein, other popular choices for prints include Albrecht Durer, Rembrandt and Pieter Bruegel. They were all from Northern Europe and prominent around the time of Holbein, give or take a few years either way. Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights is also a much loved painting from this era.

Hans Holbein is best known as a portrait painter although his study drawings also attract interest from those looking to learn more about, and enjoy, the Northern Renaissance. This format can also make beautiful art reproductions, but tend to suit smaller canvases better because of the more subtle finish of chalk or crayon against paint.

Prints are also made from those who came before the Northern Renaissance, mainly Italians such as Raphael, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, although the two offshoots of the Renaissance did overlap timewise.
